Va Bene

Va bene,
For better or worse, we now have our apartemento. Its not as nice as the one we’re in now, but it will do nicely. I like the neighborhood, very old, real Rome, not as trafficked or loud as we’ve been experiencing. Tomorrow we will shop a little, continue scouting out and photographing my churches. San Andrea della Valle will be the goal tomorrow. It is a good choice, one of the largest churches and just around the corner from where we are now. There is a Henri Cartier-Bresson exhibit across the strada, I think we will go there as well. Ciao, Tommaso

Ciao Darlings: It's Ladd here....Your blog? Is it "Rome in the Fall" or the Fall of Rome? I love your candid comments. The pleasure in reading your posts is in the honesty of your descriptions. Having come back from a month in Ireland with 24 students who ranged from absently excentric to whiningly juvenile to moppy and removed, I can appreciate your adventure. Like Paul Theroux has said, the treasure of travel is not comfort but having stories to tell when you return.
Lil' Clare's mad capped adventures are nail-bitingly frightening. True, she'll probably not remember the specifics of the journey, but there will be subtle cultural residue in her personality. That, and a later teenage fascination with young men with swarthy Mediterranian complexions, dark curly hair and a suave demeanor.
Well, as they say, Buon Gusto, enjoy yourselves. Keep writing.
Lots of love, Ladd and Debby
